 nic Chemistry at the University of California\, Los Angeles\nTopic: “Nic
 kel (Photo)catalysis”\nWe cordially invite all who are interested to the

 CataLysis Network via E-Mail. \nAbstract:\nThe Doyle lab conducts researc
 h at the interface of organic\, organometallic\, physical organic\, and co
 mputational chemistry. Our goal is to address unsolved problems in organic
  synthesis through the development of catalysts\, catalytic reactions\, an
 d synthetic methods. This lecture will describe some of our recent reactio
 n discovery efforts in the area of Ni-catalyzed cross coupling\, Ni/photor
 edox catalysis and photoredox catalysis aimed at the conversion of abundan
 t feedstock chemicals to value-added products in a selective manner. We ap
 ply mechanistic and computer-assisted techniques to the analysis of these 
 reactions in order to uncover general principles that can guide the design
  of improved ligands\, catalysts and the discovery of new reactions. These
  studies have included the development of machine learning tools for react
 ion optimization\, prediction and mechanistic inference.
