DESCRIPTION:We are very happy to welcome within the Joint Online Colloquium
  Series of the CataLysis network hosted by CRC 1441:\n&nbsp\;\nProf. Dr. H
 ilde J. Venvik \nNorwegian University of Science and Technology\, Trondhei
 m\, Norway\nCatalyst surface dynamics in terms of reconstruction\, segrega
 tion and dissolution.\nAbstract\nHeterogeneous catalysis for thermochemica
 l processes often proceeds at conditions (temperature\, pressure) where th
 ere is considerable mobility of the atoms in the solid phases\, especially
  metals. The temperature\, the reactant/product composition\, and even the
  dissolution of species in the solid matrix hence determine to a large deg
 ree the state of the active surface\, which then responds dynamically to c
 hanges in the (local) environment. The author has worked in surface scienc
 e and catalysis with reactions proceeding over Co (Fischer-Tropsch synthes
 is)\, Pd (catalytic combustion)\, and Ag (methanol oxidation to formaldehy
 de\, including relevant sub-reaction systems)\, and also with Pd alloy mem
 branes for hydrogen permeation. The presentation seeks to summarize the di
 fferent dynamic phenomena observed during adsorption\, reaction\, and perm
 eation\, and their implications to catalysis.\n How to participate?\nThe 
 event will be in hybrid form at KIT and online.\nAll interested members of
  the CataLysis network are cordially invited to take part in the seminar.
